Prestigious national recognition reflects years of investment in clinical excellence, innovation, governance and patient-centred rehabilitation

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 4 July 2026:
Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH), the flagship rehabilitation hospital under Capital Health, has been awarded the prestigious Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA) 2026, one of the UAE’s highest honours recognising organisational excellence, innovation and sustainable institutional performance.
Presented by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, during the official Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award ceremony, the recognition marks a defining milestone in SRH’s continued transformation into one of the region’s most advanced rehabilitation hospitals and reinforces its contribution to shaping the future of specialised healthcare in the UAE.
The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award is widely regarded as the UAE’s benchmark for institutional excellence, celebrating organisations that demonstrate exceptional governance, innovation, operational maturity, customer-centricity and sustainable performance. For Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital, the recognition reflects not a single achievement, but years of strategic investment in clinical quality, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, digital transformation, patient experience and continuous improvement.

Representing the organisation, Dr. Mishal Al Qasimi, Chief Executive Officer of Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital and Health Shield Medical Center, received the award on behalf of the hospital, recognising the collective efforts of SRH’s physicians, nurses, therapists and multidisciplinary teams whose unwavering commitment has been instrumental in building a culture of excellence throughout the organisation.
“Receiving the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award is a proud milestone for our entire organisation because it recognises not only what we have achieved, but how we have achieved it,” said Dr. Mishal Al Qasimi, Chief Executive Officer of Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital and Health Shield Medical Center. “At SRH, excellence is embedded in every aspect of our organisation, from clinical care and patient experience to governance, innovation and continuous improvement. This award belongs to every member of our multidisciplinary team whose dedication enables patients to recover with dignity, independence and hope every single day. It also reinforces our commitment to supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision of delivering one of the world’s most advanced healthcare systems.”
Over the past year alone, SRH has continued to strengthen its position through a series of significant milestones that have elevated its role within Abu Dhabi’s healthcare ecosystem. These include the renewal of internationally recognised quality accreditations, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to delivering care in line with the world’s highest standards, alongside the announcement of its expansion project, which will significantly increase specialised rehabilitation capacity to meet the growing needs of patients across the UAE and the wider region.
During the ceremony, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award team presented a dedicated film featuring Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital, recognising the hospital’s journey towards organisational excellence and highlighting its patient-centred care, multidisciplinary expertise, advanced rehabilitation services, and commitment to improving lives through innovation and clinical excellence.
The recognition further strengthens Capital Health’s ambition to develop healthcare institutions that not only deliver exceptional clinical outcomes but also set new benchmarks for organisational excellence across the region.
As SRH continues to expand its capabilities and invest in innovation, research and advanced rehabilitation services, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award serves as both a recognition of the hospital’s achievements and a catalyst for its next chapter, one focused on redefining rehabilitation medicine while delivering lasting value to patients, families and the wider healthcare community.
